Died peacefully Tuesday, June 29, 2010 surrounded by all his family. He was 79. Longtime husband of Rita (Roy) for 61 years. Cherished dad of Suzanne (Stuart), Lea (Philip), Chris, John, Lisa (Don), Tammy (Ken) and Janey (deceased). Ted was "Poppy" to twelve grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren. He was the son of Carl & May Askin (both deceased). He had five brothers Charlie, Jerry, John (all deceased), Gary and Carl now living on Vancouver Island. Also a sister Carrol Sharpe living in Hagersville, Ontario. Ted loved life and most of his life was one of "God's talkers" known as Jehovah's Witnesses. He loved music especially country western. He played banjo and violin. Theres no doubt he will be missed by many. He did different jobs throughout life. He worked for years at Monsanto Chemical in Oakville and the old Basket Factory. For twenty three years he drove a car- carrier for Maris Transport which he often said was the highlight of his life. Many of his wood carvings and small items he made out of wood are scattered around the country. He wrote many poems and songs which will always bring back memories of him.
