
Peacefully at West Oak Village, Oakville on Thursday, May 20, 2010 in his 94th year. Predeceased by his wife, Joyce Elizabeth (April 22, 2006) the love of his life for 64 years and in his mind, she has been with him all along - she's just out shopping. Ray was the kind and loving father of Brenda and her husband Lynn Groves of Freelton, Bonnie and her husband Dave Jourdain of Binbrook, David and his wife Connie of Kitchener. He ws the cherished Grandpa of Tara Groves-Taylor and her husband Brian of Milton, and Scott Groves and his wife Christa of Waterdown. He also was the Great Grandpa (Poppa) to Mackenzie, Paisley and Avery Taylor, Trinity and Trent Groves and Wesley Lobosco-Kirch. He knew these little ones well and was always thrilled to see them. Ray was a long time employee (45 years) of Burlington Steel (Slater Specialty Bar) as a truck driver and he was very active as one of the founders of the company credit union. After retirement, Ray and Joyce were long time residents of Peacock Point where they ran the store for 20 years and were very active in the association and social activities. They leave behind many good memories and friends. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the West Oak Village staff in Chalmers House and the Social Activities gals for their kindness to Dad and their sincere interest in his well being and happiness.
Friends will be received at KITCHING, STEEPE & LUDWIG FUNERAL HOME, 146 Mill St. N., Waterdown on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at STRABANE UNITED CHURCH, 1565 Brock Rd., Strabane on Monday, May 24, 2010 at 11 a.m. Interment Strabane Cemetery when once again, Ray and Joyce will be together.
