With heavy hearts and great sadness the family of Jay Howard Hughes announce his sudden passing on Thursday, April 15, 2010 in his 56th year. Lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his wife Liz and children Jeremy, Doug, Juliette and Laura. Sadly missed by his previous wife Joanne Hughes. Dear and beloved son of Betty and Charles Hughes, and brother to Cindy (Don) Mayor, Tracy (Murray) Breckon, and Sheila (Dave) Richardson. Very sorely missed by his best buddy Leroy "brother from another mother," and sister Nesta Chase. Loved uncle to Melissa, Brian, Dan, Sarah, and Keturah. Will be fondly remembered and missed by uncles, aunts, extended family, business associates and others in the community.
Jay had a huge positive effect on the Flamborough community at large through his involvement and support of several community groups. An avid car enthusiast and proud owner of Jay's Auto Service, Waterdown. His involvement and passion for cars began as a toddler and led to years of drag and stock car racing earning him numerous awards and trophies.
Friends may call at KITCHING, STEEPE & LUDWIG FUNERAL HOME, 146 Mill St. N., Waterdown on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at ST. JAMES UNITED CHURCH, 306 Parkside Dr., Waterdown on Thursday, April 22, 2010 at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow. If desired, donations can be made to the Canadian Red Cross or a charity of your choice.
