DALE, Allen “Larry”(aka The Mayor of Millgrove)
February 11, 1942 - March 22, 2010
Peacefully, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, Larry has finally crossed the finish line while surrounded by his extended family. Larry is survived by his loving partner and best friend Mary Gaffney and her family Shawn, Leslie, Ben and Heather Gaffney and Kim, Ivan, Becky, Melanie and Mike Laking. Larry will be missed by his daughter Bobbi and grandsons Joshua and Alex along with his son John and grandson Cody. Now reunited with his parents Alvin and Jean and siblings Lorne, Betty, Peter and Nancy. Survived by his siblings Barbie, Dolores, David, Elaine and Ron.
Together Larry and Mary owned and managed the Millgrove General Store for 17 years, with retirement in 2006. Larry was an avid sports fan and shared many recollections of the games and races with his “morning crowd” at the store.
As per Larry’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral and cremation has taken place. Special thanks go to Dr. Cindy Donaldson and the staff at the Carlisle Medical Centre, Dr. P. Major and his primary nurse Sue, the excellent care provided from Henderson E3 and the Bayshore nursing services. Larry also appreciated the extra care and support that “Lester” provided throughout his illness. Larry would like friends to join Mary and her family for a “cold one” at their home in Millgrove at 25 Carey Street Saturday May 8th from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
