Peacefully at home on Thursday, March 4, 2010, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, in her 57th
year. She will be missed by her sister Catherine of Hamilton, brothers Thomas (Liz) of Ottawa and Richard (Jan) of Saskatoon and aunt Mary Edwards (O'Neil) Kilsby, UK, nephews Matthew and Dan, nieces Erin and Amy, and cousins Charlotte and Judith. A resident of Waterdown for most of her life, she had been a committed member of the Waterdown Alliance Church and was a long-time member of the John Laing Singers. Sincerest thank you to Dr. Patricia Wilson, Dr.s Peter Ellis and Marissa Slaven and their teams at the Juravinski Cancer Centre, the palliative team of the CCAC, the visiting nurses and care-givers, and the devoted group of friends who were of great help and comfort to her. Cremation has taken place. A private interment will be held at a later date. A celebration of Joanna's life will be held at CENTRAL PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 165 Charlton Avenue West, Hamilton, at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 20, 2010, followed by a reception in the church hall. If desired, as an expression of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Cancer Assistance Program of Hamilton, or the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
